The Start of Something Smart
SEP 18 '09 | ItsYourSmartGrid

Welcome to our blog. We’ve created this site as a venue for sharing information about the need for a smarter electricity grid, which has undergone little investment in the past 25 years.

Continued below >

The ItsYourSmartGrid
blog provides a venue for
information and idea sharing...

...on the environmental, societal, political and economic implications of a smarter grid.

With the world's power consumption expected to triple by 2050, the time to act is now, and we must find a way to do more with less, as our economy and environment depend on it.

Many utilities are already taking action. Policymakers are beginning to drive change from the top, with the passing of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act in the US and with the European Union's stimulus funding package. And many companies are developing new innovative products for the grid, for the home, and even for the road that are more sophisticated and "smarter" in their consumption of energy.

In the US and all over the world, we are making progress toward smart grid implementation. And there are people from a myriad of industries working on this challenge. We'll use this blog to introduce them to you. We'll track the expansion of the grid from state to state and country to country, and follow the progress of legislation and policies affecting the smart grid evolution.

We hope you will use this blog as a resource for smart grid-related information, respond to the articles you find here, and help distribute the important messages it contains. Thanks for visiting!
